Abstract
Co-management is a collaborative approach where government authorities and resource users, such as fishers and local communities, share responsibility and decision-making for managing fishing activities in MPAs. This participatory method builds trust, increases compliance with regulations, and combines scientific knowledge with local experience to improve management effectiveness. Key components for success include an enabling policy environment, stakeholder empowerment, strong institutional linkages, and adequate resources
