Abstract
The longline tuna fishery unintentionally catches ecologically related species like sea turtles, prompting t-RFMOs and countries like the U.S. to implement bycatch mitigation measures. This study reviews the development of such measures and evaluates their effectiveness, focusing on the Korean tuna longline fishery's practices and compliance. Although not obligated, Korea voluntarily adopts key mitigation tools and shows comparable effectiveness to U.S. regulations, but must prepare for growing international sustainability demands. https://www.e-fas.org/archive/view_article?pid=fas-25-12-589
