Communication and Coordination

Effective fisheries compliance relies on effective communication and cooperation, at international, regional, national and local levels.

That is why the IMCS Network focuses on promoting and facilitating communication and cooperation across the global fisheries MCS, compliance and enforcement community. The Network implements a range of communication and cooperation initiatives including the Tuna Compliance Network, the Pan- Pacific Fisheries Compliance Network and the Global Fisheries Enforcement Training Workshop.

More recently, the Network launched a new website that provides a robust, secure, and sustainable forum for communication and cooperation between our members, observers and partners. At the heart of the website is the Network Portal. The Portal provides an integrated experience for chat and long-form discussions and facilitates relationship building between our members and builds knowledge across our community. It also supports secure discussions between our members, or a section of our members, on specific MCS issues, including operational responses to alleged IUU vessels. The Portal effectively connects our community to combat IUU fishing.

Our website also provides a comprehensive library that includes a range of easily accessed collection documents and resources to support the work and capacity development of our community. We have a dedicated section on the website to provide easy access to our MCS Practitioners Guides and we have a collated collection of external resources that may be of use to our community in their day-to-day work. Our website has become a one-stop-shop for all things fisheries MCS, compliance and enforcement and will continue to grow.
