Abstract
This article reviews the law of the sea and the interests of Pacific island nations. The issue of jurisdiction over highly migratory species recently found its way into the spotlight of international politics with the arrest of the U.S. purse-seiners Danica and Jeannette Diana by Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands respectively.
